CASA BÓCA — The Bóca House is a single-family residential project designed with functional clarity and a strong architectural identity. The design is composed of four parallel volumes, each responding to a distinct programmatic need. The first volume functions as the garage, marking the entry point. The second volume, dedicated to services, houses the kitchen, pantry, and laundry. The third volume serves as the social area, including the living and dining rooms, along with a mezzanine office. Finally, the fourth volume, the most private, contains the bedrooms, ensuring a clear separation between public and private spaces.
The entire program is developed on the ground floor, but the social and bedroom volumes extend vertically through mezzanines, creating varying ceiling heights to accommodate these elevated areas.
The aesthetic and constructive approach was guided by the desire to expose all materials and structures. A modular structural frame made of visible steel columns serves as the foundation, providing a clear and industrial framework for the interior. To enclose the spaces, a protective outer skin of thermal brick and capoto was designed, providing insulation while reinforcing the architectural character of the house. The openings are designed to match the modular grid of the structure, ensuring coherence throughout the design. The interior partitions are defined not only by walls but also by pine wood cabinetry, which serves both as storage and as functional dividing elements, adding warmth and texture to the open-plan spaces. This project emphasizes a thoughtful balance of form and function, blending modern living with a deep respect for materiality and craftsmanship.
